In Texas Constitutionalists
CONSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS, 1836 Fourteenth. Every citizen shall have the right to bear arms in defence of himself and the Republic. The military shall at all times and in all cases be subordinate to the civil power. (As adapted in 1991) THE TEXAS CONSTITUTION ARTICLE 1. BILL OF RIGHTS Sec. 23. RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS. Every citizen shall have the right to keep and bear arms in the lawful defense of himself or the State; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms, with a view to prevent crime. Questions: Could this last sentence open the door for red flag laws in Texas? If so, what should we do about it?
